Gherson Solicitors LLP is currently seeking to recruit a legal Billing Clerk to join our expanding Team.

Please note that this role is fully office-based

Responsibilities

  • Regular review of time recording of all fee earners in the team, and preparation of those papers for their review in turn.
  • Developing relationship with all of our experts (including Chambers) to ensure that fee notes are requested across all matters regularly.
  • Regular review of WIP, along with fee notes requested, ensuring that these are compared to the fees estimated to the client, and communicate with the fee earners when they come close to the limit so they can manage their clients.
  • Eventually monthly case status updates to each client that is being charged hourly to ensure full transparency per Legal Ombudsman guidelines.
  • Regular administrative tasks including raising invoices and sending these to clients, along with chasers where appropriate.
  • Attendance at the billing meetings to update accounts across all matters, in lieu of the fee
  • Manage allocated tasks and queries within the Finance email inbox.
  • Process credit notes, WIP and disbursement transfers and write-offs in line with internal procedures.
  • Provide cover for team members when required
  • Aged debt recovery
