Information Technology Manager
Gherson Solicitors LLP is an award‑winning immigration practice in London specialising in UK immigration, nationality, extradition and human rights law.
As Gherson is a Mac focused organisation we are looking for a candidate who is a Mac guru able to handle all things Mac related including building, managing and updating Mac computers using Jamf Pro and related tools.
Other key priorities will include managing a team of two IT engineers and ensuring that all IT projects are managed and driven forward in a timely manner.
Looking for strong Linux server skills covering aspects such as scripting, web servers, file servers and directory servers.
You will also need to be solutions orientated and have excellent problem‑solving skills.
Security is a strong focus.
The overall split is about 95% Mac and 5% Windows.

Responsibilities will include
- Taking ownership of all the services listed above and ensuring they are managed completely.
- Managing and training the other members of the team.
- Reporting weekly to management or stakeholders of the business on the status of various projects and proposals.
- Preparing and presenting an annual IT budget.
- Management of various services and service agreements and ensuring to report any renewals at least six months ahead of the renewal date.
- Managing the asset register.
- Managing the SLAs for the firm’s ticketing system.
- Being available out of hours in the event of an IT emergency and being first port of call in those instances.
- Troubleshooting day to day user problems including the firm’s practice management software, video conferencing, computers, printers and where applicable copiers and fax machines.
- Creating new user accounts as well as setting up the equipment at the workstations.
- Work station transitions when needed.
- Excellent with documentation of infrastructure and managing tasks within tickets.
Qualifications & experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience with configuring and supporting mac OS and its various services (File Sharing (inc ACL and Posix Permission’s management), DHCP, DNS Some Linux knowledge would be beneficial.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with configuring and supporting mac OS Deployment Workflows/Tools (Jamf, Munki)
- Extensive knowledge and experience with the Command Line and Scripting (Bash and Python).
- Extensive knowledge and experience with configuring and supporting firewalls, switches, wireless access points (Sonicwall, Brocade, Ubiquiti).
- Knowledge and Experience supporting Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016, Hyper‑V Failover Clustering, SQL Failover Clustering, RDS Environment, Active Directory.
- Must have a track record of being able to work alongside all levels of users.
- Must have experience managing an IT department and regularly reporting to stakeholders.
- Must have a flexible approach to task and working hours.
