In this role, you lead highway planning and design projects within GHD’s Ontario transportation team, guiding multi-disciplinary teams from proposal through close-out. You’ll drive technical leadership, client relationships, and business development, contributing to regional transportation outcomes. You’ll mentor staff and coordinate integrated solutions across engineering disciplines, delivering high-quality project outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Lead highway planning and design projects for municipal clients
  • Manage multi-disciplinary design teams for road and bridge projects
  • Oversee project delivery from proposal to close-out including budgets, schedules, quality, safety, and client satisfaction
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to staff
  • Coordinate integration with other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality deliverables
  • Manage staff performance, workload, and professional development
  • Promote best practices and leadership in transportation projects
  • Support business development including capture planning and leading proposals
  • Contribute to business development strategy for MTO and related clients, including capture plans and client relationships
  • Apply diverse transportation solutions (corridor planning, ITS, digital delivery, roundabout design)

Key requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering
  • Ontario P.Eng. designation required (or eligible)
  • 15+ years' experience in planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects, including project management
  • Experience with Ministry of Transportation of Ontario
  • Experience managing design projects in collaborative models (e.g., Progressive Design-Build, Alliance, CMGC) is an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven track record in mentoring and leading professional staff
