Graduate Development at GHD: GHD’s Graduate Program is aimed at developing our future technical specialists. During the course of our two‑year global graduate development programme our Graduate Engineers will work with our Engineering teams developing skills across a wide variety of projects in the Water, Energy, Industrial, Property and Buildings sectors both in the UK and overseas. Your contribution will make a positive lasting benefit to the environment and our communities. What We Are Looking For: There is a huge opportunity over the coming decades to be a part of a wholesale re‑imagining of how energy systems are structured, delivered and operated. GHD is looking for enthusiastic, pro‑active and forward‑thinking Graduate Consultant Engineers to embrace this opportunity and be part of our growing power team, delivering a range of power generation, energy conversion, electricity transmission and distribution projects for our clients in Europe, the Middle East and Australia. We are seeking engineers to join our power team in our London and Guildford offices.

Your responsibilities would include: GHD works for a broad range of clients spanning the full asset lifecycle with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices and technologies. Your responsibilities would include delivering consultancy projects in the areas of electricity transmission and distribution networks. Types of work delivered will include but not be limited to:

  • Technical advisor and due diligence roles
  • Network planning and strategy, including review of Grid Codes and power system analysis (e.g. to evaluate network development options or confirm Grid Code compliance)
  • Technical advice, assessments and audits for regulators and licensed network operators
  • Delivery of network innovation solutions
  • Translating technical analysis into clear, decision‑ready insights for clients and regulators

What’s In It For You: You will get involved in a portfolio of different projects and apply your newly acquired skills in a range of environments, gaining early exposure to how technical analysis informs real‑world decisions for network operators, regulators and investors. As your understanding of GHD and our clients develops, your responsibilities will grow accordingly. Initially, you will be involved in:

  • Supporting the delivery of technical assignments, work packages project and work‑winning activities
  • Undertaking numerical and engineering analysis, and contributing to the preparation of clear, structured technical reports and presentations
  • Proficient use of standard software (Microsoft), plus willingness to engage with additional specific software tools
  • Team and client meetings, including UK and international travel to attend meetings as required
  • Working alongside senior engineers and consultants to successfully deliver projects in a team environment
  • Continuously developing your technical, analytical and professional skills through hands‑on project delivery across a range of contexts and sectors

To deliver against these responsibilities you will demonstrate:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant subject area
  • Understanding of the application of Engineering principles
  • Be a problem solver and collaborative teammate with good communication skills
