At GHD, we look beyond the data centre itself—connecting investment and site strategy with power, water, planning, environment, transport, architecture, multidisciplinary engineering, programme delivery, commissioning and operational readiness.

The opportunity

We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced professionals who want to help grow and deliver GHD’s Data Centres and Mission Critical business across the UK. Rather than recruiting to one narrowly defined position, we want to meet people with distinctive expertise and explore how the right opportunity could be shaped around the value they bring.

You might be a market-facing adviser, sector or client leader, project or programme director, design manager, technical specialist, commissioning professional or operational expert. You may work in consultancy, investment, development, engineering, construction, utilities, technology or client-side delivery. What matters is your ability to improve decisions, unlock opportunities or deliver complex mission-critical infrastructure.

Where you could make an impact

Depending on your background, your contribution could include:

• Building senior relationships with investors, developers, operators, hyperscalers, utilities, landowners, contractors, government and technology organisations.
• Shaping market, client and account strategies; originating opportunities; and leading capture, proposals and strategic pursuits.
• Advising on investment readiness, site and portfolio strategy, due diligence, business cases, power and water availability, planning, environmental approvals, commercial models and delivery risk.
• Leading complex multidisciplinary projects or programmes from feasibility and design through procurement, construction support, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.
• Providing specialist expertise across electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, energy, utilities, sustainability, ICT, security, controls, commissioning and operations.
• Resolving critical interfaces involving grid connections, cooling, water, high-density computing, resilience, long-lead equipment, constructability, phasing and speed to market.
• Connecting UK clients and teams with GHD’s EMEA and global network to bring the right capability to each challenge.

Who we would like to hear from

• We welcome interest from professionals at senior, principal, director and executive level, including those whose experience does not fit a conventional job title. You may bring strength in one area or combine several of the following:
• Data centres, mission-critical facilities, advanced technology, energy, utilities, industrial, healthcare, life sciences or other complex infrastructure.
• Executive advisory, investment, development, market leadership, client management, work winning or proposition development.
• Project, programme, design, commercial or construction leadership across major multidisciplinary commissions.
• Power systems, grid connections, substations, HV/MV/LV, standby generation, cooling, thermal modelling, water, sustainability, planning or environmental approvals.
• Architecture, civil, structural, mechanical or electrical engineering, ICT, security, controls, commissioning, operational readiness or facilities operations.
• Strong commercial judgement, clear communication and the ability to turn complexity into practical decisions and outcomes.
• Collaborative leadership across disciplines, organisations and geographies, with a commitment to safety, quality and inclusive team development.

Different routes, shared impact

There is no single route into this opportunity. Direct data centre experience is highly valuable, but we are equally interested in people from adjacent mission-critical sectors who can demonstrate relevant scale, systems thinking, client credibility, technical depth or delivery ownership.
