GHD’s Graduate Program is aimed at developing our future technical specialists. During our two-year global graduate development programme, our Graduate Geoscientist will work with our Energy Transition Advisory team developing skills across a wide variety of projects associated with the Energy Transition, from conventional (Oil and Gas) to low carbon energy sources (Geothermal, Hydrogen) and Carbon Capture and Storage. Due to the diversity of GHD, there is also the opportunity to work in the Water, Renewable Energy, Industrial, Property and Buildings sectors both in the UK and overseas.
Your contribution will make a positive lasting benefit to the environment and communities. While learning about our business, our values, your team, and most importantly, yourself you will develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills. We offer mentoring and a variety of development activities, providing on the job experience and exposure to a diverse range of projects. Once eligible, we will also support you towards gaining Chartered Geologist (or equivalent) status.
Graduate Geoscientist Responsibilities
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collate, analyse and load subsurface data, gaining an understanding of basic geological data requirements and data limitations prior to interpretation.
- Data Interpretation: Review geological, geophysical, petrophysical data and undertake basic analysis. This includes seismic surveys, core data, well logs. Liaise with other departmental disciplines to reach a geologically appropriate model that best fits all the available data.
- Geological Modelling: Learning how to build, update and evaluate theoretical and geocellular 2D/3D geological models. Estimate deterministic and probabilistic in-place volumes using appropriate industry standard software.
- Consulting Project Content Development: Develop, collaborate and contribute materials to client deliverables, for example slide decks for standardized presentations and client reports.
- Client Engagement: Assist with client engagement by arranging actions, meetings, events, and supporting materials to promote positive client experiences.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation and, where relevant, improve performance and fulfil your personal potential.
- Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending industry conferences, and reviewing specialist media.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
- Health, Safety and Environment: Learn appropriate HSE behaviours and comply with GHD safety standards at all times.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Geology, Geophysics or Geoscience related discipline.
- 0-2 years of professional experience related to the role.
- Able to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week (London or Guildford).
