GHD is seeking a Senior Electrical Consulting Engineer to join our UK Power team. The role involves delivering technically challenging projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Australia, with a focus on consulting, client engagement and project leadership.
Responsibilities
- Supporting and leading the delivery of electrical engineering projects across distribution and transmission systems.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications, FEED and concept studies.
- Acting as Owner's Engineer and providing technical advisory/due diligence support.
- Undertaking cable system design, substation design (grid and distribution), and equipment specification.
- Assisting with tendering, bids and proposals, providing technical expertise.
- Supporting site-based activities, including FAT, SAT and commissioning.
- Helping to mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to team growth.
What You'll Bring: Skills & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc minimum; MEng/MSc desirable).
- Solid understanding of the UK electricity system and regulatory/stakeholder environment.
- Experience in the design, specification, construction, operation or maintenance of distribution and transmission level networks.
- Knowledge of key electrical equipment, such as gas and air insulated switchgear, transformers, harmonic filters, and reactive compensation equipment.
- Power cables (experience desirable).
- Power system protection and control (experience desirable).
- Previous project delivery experience (leading or coordinating tasks).
- Consulting experience (desirable, but not essential).
- Site experience (FAT, SAT, commissioning) – an advantage.
- Working towards or already holding Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with IET (or similar).
