Job Description

Senior Process Engineer – Wastewater Treatment

Location: Chester / Manchester / Leeds

Reports to: Team Leader

Role Purpose: This role will contribute to successfully delivering projects to budget and timescales.

Responsibilities:

  1. Produce technical reports, drawings, and specifications for wastewater design projects.
  2. Check/review of outline design mass balances, P&IDs, pumped systems, equipment data sheets, DSEAR reports, Basis of Design documents, Commissioning Plans, and URS documents.
  3. Attendance at HAZOPs, preparation for HAZOPs, and completing follow-up actions.
  4. Supervision of junior/graduate engineers.
  5. Collaboration with other disciplines including Mechanical, EC&I, hydraulic, and civil.
  6. Work with Project Managers, Design Managers, and Project Engineers in coordinating multidiscipline projects.
  7. Raising RFIs where design information is missing or requires clarification.
  8. Work directly with clients in design meetings and technical discussions.
  9. Provide and coordinate construction phase technical support for projects under construction.
  10. Providing ongoing consulting services to established clients.
  11. Networking with colleagues and peers across GHD and the industry.
  12. Rigorous check/review procedures within an established framework.

Critical Relationships: The Senior Process Engineer reports to a Team Leader and collaborates with all stakeholders cross-discipline to achieve \’best for project\’ outcomes.

Specific Experience, Skills & Knowledge:

  1. Clear experience of UK municipal wastewater processes including design and construction project support experience.
  2. Clear understanding of UK treatment processes, tertiary treatment equipment, including chemical dosing and control systems for water industry projects.
  3. Specific experience of primary treatment, nutrient removal, biological systems. Experience of biosolids systems is an advantage.
  4. Track record of delivering an exceptional client experience to contractors and/or end clients.
  5. Flexible with great communication skills and ability to work within a team and independently.
  6. Proactive attitude in addressing design challenges.
  7. Experience in process unit design and selection from first principles will be an advantage but not essential.
  8. Experience with BioWin will be an advantage.
  9. Experience of detailed design for construction contractors is an advantage but not essential.
  10. Willing and able to travel to other offices and client sites when needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor\’s and/or Master\’s degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. Preferably minimum 5 years industry experience.
  3. Working towards Chartered Engineer accreditation with the IChemE.
  4. DSEAR/ATEX and HAZOP experience would be an advantage.
