ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated NPI Project Engineer to join our Product Engineering team. In this role, you will take ownership of New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, ensuring products move smoothly from prototype to volume manufacturing while meeting performance, cost and quality targets. You’ll work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Programme teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions that support our business growth objectives. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role ideal for someone who thrives in a technical, fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Lead NPI projects through all stages of design and process development
- Deliver new products that meet specification, manufacturability and cost requirements
- Apply NPI processes and ensure compliance with ISO9001 and future AS9100 standards
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and meet project milestones
- Support quality improvements, including PFMEA leadership and risk mitigation
- Assist with RMA investigations and product-related technical queries
- Manage ECO classification and distribution
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering on cost-reduction initiatives
- Provide product knowledge support to ongoing production when required
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- On-time delivery of customer milestones and documentation
- Strong adherence to NPI gate schedules
- Timely and effective corrective actions
- Reduction in design-related RMAs
- Fully auditable project documentation aligned with site accreditations
WHAT YOU BRING
- Degree in Engineering (Optics, Electronics, Mechanical, Software) or a Science discipline, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Experience in technical design, process development and project management
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (essential)
- Photonics experience (advantageous)
- Familiarity with Syspro, NPI systems, Engineering Change processes and modelling software
- Understanding of project management methods in multi-disciplinary teams
- Working knowledge of H&S and risk assessments
