An opportunity has arisen for an Electronics Design Engineer to join us at G&H, a world leader in optical designing, testing and manufacturing. We work with customers to provide optical systems, assemblies and components for demanding applications.

What you’ll be doing as an Electronics Design Engineer at G&H:

The role will encompass firmware and hardware design & simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout and prototyping. You will work within the optics and fibre-optic R&D team on the development of new modules and sub-systems for the industrial, aerospace & defence (A&D) and bio-photonics market segments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Electronic design engineering from concept to manufacture and test.
  • Produce and maintain embedded firmware/software associated with digital control of opto-electronic sub-systems primarily using C/C++.
  • Design of electronic sub-systems including requirements analysis and development of specifications.
  • Design of laser drivers, optical detection circuits and digital control electronics.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform electronic design, analysis and test.
  • Prepare presentation material and reports to a high standard for all phases of NPD/NPI.
  • Reliability and parts stress analysis, obsolescence management as required.
  • Support gate reviews and handover process from design to production.
  • Support manufacture and test of product on occasional basis.
  • Present results clearly and concisely for both internal and external customers.
  • Deliver projects to plan and within budget constraints.

At G&H, we’re looking for an Electronics Design Engineer with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or similar.
  • Expertise in firmware development for embedded systems & microprocessors.
  • Experience in Firmware/Software development for ARM based micros.
  • Schematic capture and layout (e.g. Altium).
  • Experience with prototyping and laboratory test equipment.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with MISRA or similar coding standards desirable.
  • RF design experience would be an advantage.
