In our Diamond Turning department, we produce custom lenses for imaging, focusing, collimation, and illumination. Our work involves crafting spherical, semi-spherical, and aspheric lenses using state-of-the-art 5-axis grinding and polishing machines.

As an Optical Worker in our Machine Shop, you will:

  • Set up machinery, processes, and equipment for the safe and efficient production of optical components.
  • Follow detailed written procedures to ensure optimal methods and equipment are used.
  • Meet quality, output, safety, and improvement targets within your department or cell.
  • Clean and maintain production equipment and work areas.
  • Inspect and clean optics to meet exact specifications.
  • Identify and manage non-conforming parts through the MRB process.
  • Accurately complete documentation such as history cards and process records.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • CNC turning experience, ideally with 3/5-axis machines and some programming knowledge.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science (Grade C or above).
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Problem-solving skills and a results-driven approach.
  • The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Good manual handling skills and dexterity.
  • Flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy.
