As part of Product Engineering, you will support the New Product Introduction (NPI) team and have responsibility for meeting business performance commitments to key stakeholders. You will influence decision making around product development and be accountable for product and process design. Following our development strategy, you will contribute towards expanding our current product offering to meet business growth objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Development Engineering through the NPI and engineering change process to deliver robust designs and processes to Manufacturing, with a full understanding of relevant product performance and material implications.
- Support the NPI process through the understanding and implementation of our quality management system to maintain compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100.
- Support the infeed from development teams to drive corporate strategy of moving up the value chain and delivering new components and assemblies to market.
- Ensure all relevant activities completed are fully auditable to site accreditations and work with the quality department to implement any suggested quality improvements.
- Support the commercial demands of the business.
- Meet deadlines while maintaining clear communication with relevant product engineers.
- Support the technical responsibility for RMA and RCA process where appropriate.
- Support the completion of ECOs using process by relevant engineering change procedures.
- Support the build of alpha and beta prototypes for assigned NPI projects.
- Support ongoing production where there is a requirement for technical skills or knowledge when requested through the correct escalation route.
- Contribute your technical skills and process knowledge to DFMEAs and PFMEAs.
- Documentation of development, test and build activities into procedures or reports as appropriate.
- Adherence to all Company policies, management systems and standard operational procedures, including legal responsibilities in relation to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality.
- Working positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel in order to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity.
- Promote and display the G&H values: Customer focus, Passion, Unity, Precision.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
- Regular performance reviews with your line manager.
- Yearly appraisal reviews.
- KPIs around RMA investigations and timely processing of ECOs.
- Contributions to NPI Gate Reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical certificate BTEC, NVQ, HND Photonic, electronic and fibre‑optic specific courses.
- GCSE, A Level.
