We are looking for a highly technical and commercially minded Senior Electrical Estimator to join the pre-construction team of a leading Tier 1 M&E Contractor. This role is essential to the business’s continued growth, focusing on securing high-value, complex electrical packages across the London market. The successful candidate will lead the tendering process for major projects, working closely with the Pre-Construction Director to develop winning strategies for some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure and commercial builds.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end estimating process for electrical packages ranging from £10M to £50M+.
- Produce detailed and accurate cost estimates, including take-offs, labour requirements, and material pricing.
- Identify opportunities for cost-effective alternatives and innovative engineering solutions to provide a competitive edge.
- Negotiate with wholesalers and specialist sub-contractors to secure the most competitive and robust pricing.
- Conduct thorough reviews of tender documents to identify commercial risks and technical challenges.
- Prepare and present tender summaries for internal adjudication meetings with the Senior Leadership Team.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience as an Electrical Estimator within a Tier 1 or large Tier 2 M&E sub-contractor.
- Proven success in winning major projects within the Data Centre, Healthcare, or Commercial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including HV/LV distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems.
- Advanced proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble/Amtech, Ensign, or Bluebeam).
- Ability to articulate technical complexities and commercial strategies to both clients and internal stakeholders.
