We are looking for a commercially astute M&E Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Tier 1 Contractor. This is a pivotal role within the commercial division, responsible for managing the financial performance of high-value mechanical and electrical packages on some of London's most significant construction projects. The successful candidate will join a business that prides itself on financial stability, a diverse sector portfolio, and a culture of internal promotion.

Core Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the financial lifecycle of projects, from initial procurement through to final account agreement.
  • Monitor and report on project costs, including monthly CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations) and cash flow forecasting.
  • Manage the selection and appointment of specialist M&E sub-contractors, ensuring robust commercial terms and value for money.
  • Identify, value, and negotiate variations and change orders with the Main Contractor and sub-contract teams.
  • Assess progress on-site, certify payment applications, and resolve any commercial disputes or claims.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Site Engineers to ensure operational delivery aligns with commercial objectives.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor specifically within the M&E/Building Services sector.
  • Experience working for a sub-contractor on major commercial or technical projects (Data Centres/Healthcare experience is highly desirable).
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (RICS accreditation is a plus).
  • Proficient in standard forms of contract (JCT and NEC) and highly skilled in Excel and cost-management software.
  • Strong negotiation skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to build lasting relationships with clients and vendors.
