I am currently partnering with a leading Tier 1 M&E Contractor to recruit a Mechanical Project Engineer for a landmark rail infrastructure project based in Banbury. This is a major-scale scheme that offers long‑term stability and the opportunity to work on highly complex, technically challenging infrastructure. The Role
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of major mechanical packages from pre‑construction through to testing and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee mechanical installations on‑site (HVAC, public health, ventilation, and specialist services).
- Coordinate closely with the main contractor, client representatives, and internal design/commercial teams.
- Manage sub‑contractors, procurement schedules, and variations.
- Ensure all engineering works comply with strict quality, safety, and project specifications.
- Assist with value engineering and technical problem‑solving on‑site.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer specifically for an M&E contractor in the UK.
- Qualifications: A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (either an HNC/HND/Degree route OR a relevant trade background with strong technical progression).
- Right to Work: Full right to work in the UK is required.
Desirable Criteria
- Rail Experience: Prior experience working within a rail environment is highly advantageous, but it is not essential. My client is fully equipped to support and transition strong M&E engineers into the infrastructure sector.
