This is a full-time hybrid role for a Bookkeeper and Payroll Assistant, based in Peterborough with some flexibility for remote work. The role involves managing payroll processes, maintaining accurate financial records, performing bank reconciliations, managing supplier invoices and payments, and preparing VAT returns. Other responsibilities include assisting with tax calculations, supporting financial reporting, and liaising with clients to address queries and provide solutions. Managing CIS returns, subcontractor verification, and CIS deductions.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in bookkeeping, financial record keeping, and bank reconciliations
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, VAT regulations, and tax compliance
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interaction
  • A relevant qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field is desirable
  • Previous experience in a similar bookkeeping or payroll role is essential.
