The Role
You will provide safety leadership, lead the implementation, monitoring, & improvement of GEV’s safety management system. You will work with Operations management & site teams to manage safety risks & compliance with HASAWA & other applicable legislation. You will promote GEV’s proactive safety culture & ensure incidents are managed & reported effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement GEV’s safety policies in line with UK and other country legal requirements.
- Create RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements).
- Provide guidance to Managers & Technicians on safety & health protocols & procedures.
- Conduct site safety audits, inspections, & risk assessments.
- Lead investigations into incidents, near misses, & safety concerns.
- Identify causes and recommend corrective actions and track to close out.
- Maintain accurate safety records, including incident reports & inspection findings.
Employee Safety Engagement
- Promote proactive safety reporting & GEV’s Fail Safely principles.
- Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks, & safety campaigns to reinforce safe behaviours.
- Act as a point of contact for safety advice & employee safety concerns.
Reporting and Improvement
- Monitor & report on safety performance, including incidents, observations, & corrective actions.
- Track & report on safety KPIs such as incident rates, site inspection findings, & safety action closure rates.
- Identify trends & areas for improvement in safety performance.
Experience & Profile
- 2+ years in safety management in wind, industrial, or construction sectors.
- Proven experience in incident investigation & risk management.
- Experience leading safety inspections.
- IRATA & full GWO certification.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE & ISO 45001 requirements.
- Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong reporting & analysis skills.
- Proficient with safety management systems & MS Office.
Certifications
- NEBOSH General or Construction certificate.
