Assignment Editor, Sport

Who You Are:
The Sports Assignment Editor plans and drives our sports coverage across many different leagues and teams. You will be working directly with the Senior Manager of Assignments & Operations along with other assignment editors to continue delivering on our current commitments and growing our coverage, everything from a one-off single-day event to a multi-week event spanning multiple cities and venues. You’ll work closely with our staff of 30 photographers and our hundreds of freelance photographers and editors. You exhibit integrity and have a consistent track record of maintaining a client-focused perspective, representing the company with your strong presentation and public speaking skills.
The Editorial team provides our customers with premium, differentiated visuals across news, sports, and entertainment that cover real people, events, actions, and facts. We also grow and maintain one of the world’s most extensive archives of socially significant, historical photos, footage, and prints.
Your Next Challenge:
- Plan and execute event coverage, start to finish. This includes planning, credential requests, event creation, photographer relations, and league/team relations.
- Continue to build our photographer relationships, old and new.
- Handle logistic arrangements in deploying photographers to events and photo shoots.
- Work to grow our coverage where possible.
- Compile and provide analysis of data regarding coverage and usage.
- Apply strong communication skills both within our company and to external contacts.
- Foster relationships in a strong team environment internally and externally.
What You’ll Need:
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the editorial photography industry.
- Full working proficiency in Italian – spoken and written.
- Knowledge of key editorial clients.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a remote team environment.
- Experience with industry-standard editing tools, Adobe Photoshop and Digital asset management (DAM) software.
- Ability and desire to work flexible, non-traditional hours including weekends, nights & holidays.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment accurately, while maintaining thorough attention to detail.
