The Role
As a Senior Business & Standards Consultant, you will play a key role in advising financial institutions on the adoption, implementation, and optimisation of Swift standards and services. You will act as a trusted advisor to customers, combining deep standards expertise with strong business understanding to deliver high‑value consultancy engagements across payments, securities, and related domains. Based in London, this role focuses primarily on EMEA customers while collaborating closely with global colleagues across regions and functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver complex business and standards consultancy engagements for Swift customers, from pre‑sales support through to project execution and closure.
- Advise customers on Swift standards and market practices, including ISO 20022 and related payment and messaging flows.
- Deliver consultancy services around Swift business products, such as GPI, Case, and other Swift services, helping customers understand business value, functional capabilities, and implementation impacts.
- Design and deliver training sessions and workshops for financial institutions, both remotely and on‑site, covering Swift standards, services, and market practices.
- Act as a trusted customer advisor, engaging with senior stakeholders (business, operations, IT, and compliance).
- Contribute to solution design, service scoping, and proposal development in collaboration with Business Development, Product, and other Professional Services teams.
- Support and mentor junior consultants, sharing knowledge and best practices within the consultancy community.
- Contribute to the evolution of consultancy offerings, methodologies, and knowledge assets.
- Represent Business & Standards Consultancy in internal initiatives, working groups, and cross‑functional projects.
Professional Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in financial services, consulting, or a related field.
- Strong experience in financial services, preferably in payments, securities, transaction banking, or financial market infrastructures.
- Solid knowledge of Swift standards and services, with particular focus on ISO 20022 and related messaging or business flows.
- Ability to bridge business and technical discussions, translating complex topics into actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Comfortable working in an international, matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to customer locations as required by project needs.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification is a plus.
- Relevant professional certifications or training in payments, financial markets, ISO 20022, or related domains are considered an advantage.
