About the Company

Our client is one of the UK's largest and most respected charities, headquartered in London, working across social welfare, community development, and advocacy. With an annual income of £180m, over 3,000 employees, and a significant volunteer and partner network, the organisation is undergoing its most ambitious strategy refresh in a decade, rethinking its service model, funding approach, and organisational design. The incoming Strategy Director will have a direct line to the CEO and will shape the organisation's direction for the next five years.

The Role

As Non‑Profit Strategy Director, you will lead the development, communication, and implementation of the organisation's corporate strategy. You will act as a trusted strategic adviser to the CEO and senior leadership, lead a small internal strategy team, and drive the major strategic initiatives that will define the organisation's impact over the coming decade.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development of the organisation's five‑year corporate strategy, working across service, fundraising, and operations functions.
  • Own the strategic planning cycle, translating long‑term ambitions into annual priorities and funded plans.
  • Design and deliver strategic reviews and option appraisals for major decisions, including service transformation, geographic expansion, and partnership models.
  • Act as a thought partner to the CEO and Chair, providing objective analysis and candid advice on the organisation's most significant challenges.
  • Develop and maintain the organisation's relationships with key strategic partners, funders, and policy stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10–15 years of experience in strategy consulting, public policy, or a senior strategic leadership role, ideally with significant non‑profit or public sector exposure.
  • Genuine commitment to social impact and an understanding of the distinctive challenges and opportunities of the voluntary sector.
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills, able to navigate complexity and bring clarity to difficult conversations.
  • Collaborative leader who can build trust across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience of major organisational change or transformation in a large, complex institution is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary of £100,000 – £130,000, depending on experience.
  • Performance‑related pay component and enhanced pension.
  • 30 days annual leave plus public holidays.
  • Hybrid working from the London head office, with flexibility for the right candidate.
