General Yard Duties

All general yard duties to include:

  • Mucking out/ keeping yard clean and tidy
  • Grooming / picking out feet
  • Tacking up
  • Feeding/ filling haynets
  • Filling water containers
  • Exercising ponies and small horses

Training

Training through the BHS stages to teach children to ride.

All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.

Qualifications required

You must not already hold a qualification in Equine Studies at Level 2 or above, as this will make you ineligible for the apprenticeship. If you do not already have qualifications in maths and/ or English, Haddon Training will support you in gaining Functional Skills qualifications at level 1 or 2.

Skills required

  • Be able to ride ponies and small horses under 15.2hh
  • Be willing to do BHS teaching Qualifications alongside apprenticeship

Prospects

Progression to the Level 3 Senior Groom or possibility of full time employment and further BHS teaching Quals.
