Overview

Caron Roberts Equestrian are a livery and coaching centre based in Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. They offer a range of livery packages to suit a wide variety of owners, from ”happy hackers” to 2* competition horses. Each of their horses is catered for on an individual basis and not just another head over the door. They have a dedicated and friendly team of qualified staff to ensure they provide the best service. The yard is never left unattended during the day and they also live on site. This is a great chance to work with a variety of horses on a wonderful yard, with people dedicated and passionate about coaching.

Responsibilities

  • Mucking out, turning out/bringing in
  • Preparing horses for lessons, feeding, water, hay net filling
  • Yard and paddock maintenance
  • Exercising horses (non-ridden & ridden)
  • Holding for vet, farrier, and dentist
  • General care and supervision on a day-to-day basis

Opportunity

Opportunity to learn about rehabilitation work with a vet. Some eventing opportunities for the right candidate.

Role and Training

The role is 5 days a week, 7.30am – 5pm with the opportunity to live in and bring your own horse. You will receive extensive training on and off the horse, including classroom-based sessions, and there is an apprenticeship wage. They will train you in all aspects of the industry including clipping, plaiting, customer care, etc. The end goal is for you to feel experienced and confident to take on more of a head girl/management position or run your own yard, be a top groom, or sole charge of a yard. They encourage you to pursue BHS exams to enhance your CV and maximise your time with them. Whether starting with BHS Stage 1 or BHS Stage 4, they can provide all necessary training to gain these qualifications. Caron started out as an apprentice herself, so she understands what is required to succeed in the equine world. They are looking for an honest, keen, happy person to join the current team.

Accommodation and Start

Accommodation on site and space for your own horse on livery. Immediate start is possible.

Training and Qualifications

Training – Full training through the Equine Apprenticeship supported by Haddon Training.

Qualifications required – GCSE Level 4/Grade C in Maths and English or equivalent. If not yet achieved, discuss with Haddon Training about working towards Level 1 or higher in Functional Skills Maths and English.

Skills

Skills required – Good basic equine knowledge and experience is required. If you do not have the relevant experience, we will not be able to put you forward for this position.

Prospects

Full-time position or Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship (senior equine groom) on completion of Level 2. Qualification / Standard: ST0166 Equine groom. Duration: 15 Months.
