Responsibilities include answering the phone, greeting clients on arrival, dealing with post in and out, and communication with HMRC for tax registration. Basic bookkeeping tasks involve assigning invoices, reviewing expenses, reconciling accounts, and reporting. Additional duties include bank analysis and accounts preparation, as well as reconciliations of various accounts using Xero and QuickBooks Online primarily.

Training for the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3 - AAT builds on foundational skills for entry-level talent to support growth within an Accountancy and Finance function. Employees on this apprenticeship will ensure that an Accountancy and Finance practice operates effectively. It includes the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and provides opportunities to develop essential skills and behaviours to drive results. You will learn how to prepare financial statements for Sole Traders and Partnerships, understand the importance of management accounting information, and prepare VAT returns. This programme will help you develop the technical skills necessary to start or progress your career in accountancy, allowing you to continue your studies onto Level 4.

  • Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS)
  • Management Accounting Techniques (MATS)
  • Tax Processes for Business (TPFB)
  • Business Awareness (BUAW)

Qualifications required: 3 A Levels, or 9 GCSEs A-C, with GCSE Maths Grade 6 or above.
