The Fire Detection Maintenance Technician is responsible for delivering preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as first-level diagnostics, for all fire detection, safety, and security systems within the Channel Tunnel. The role also includes carrying out basic maintenance on technical assets managed by the Telecommunication Control Systems (TCS) department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with technical standards and record all work in the Maintenance Management System (MMS).
- Complete first-level diagnostics and corrective maintenance on fire detection and extinguishing systems to support continuous safe operations.
- Respond to maintenance requests from the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC), prioritising tasks in line with operational needs and safety requirements.
- Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment in workshop settings to maintain system availability and reliability.
- Contribute to technical improvement projects associated with safety and security systems, offering insights based on practical experience.
- Follow all safety and security procedures, actively participating in safety briefings, audits and reporting to help maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor Minimum Operating Requirements (M.O.R) and take appropriate action to help prevent service disruption.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across UK and French sites, contributing to an inclusive, respectful, and supportive binational team culture.
- Complete all necessary administrative and technical documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Develop and maintain technical competence across relevant maintenance areas, recording learning and skills development.
- Support wider TCS maintenance activities by undertaking maintenance tasks across relevant technical assets as required.
- Carry out other appropriate duties aligned with the scope of the role as requested by a Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience:
- HNC / HND / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electronics.
- Experience in fire detection maintenance is an advantage.
- Experience working in a maintenance environment (typically two years) or other relevant practical experience.
- Bilingual communication skills in English and French are highly desirable.
- Full UK Driving Licence and valid Passport are essential.
- Ability to meet the required medical standard for the role.
