We are looking for a dedicated Field Service Engineer to contribute to our ACT and SWP service team across the South East, ideally based within or around London. Getinge is a well‑respected OEM that saves lives through the manufacture and maintenance of medical devices and solutions. Our Service Team is at the forefront of our business, responsible for routine servicing, testing and repairing equipment in hospitals and facilities throughout the UK and Ireland.
As a self‑starter who manages their own workload, you will work largely independently while receiving regular support from the Service Office, Service Managers and Technical Services Department. You will utilise your technical knowledge to ensure smooth operation of our machines, build relationships with customers and colleagues, and deliver the best possible service.
Responsibilities
- Deal with customers, demonstrating first‑class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
- Carry out routine testing of Getinge equipment to the relevant standards and undertake mechanical servicing of equipment.
- Problem solve, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the job.
- Electrical/mechanical fault finding of equipment.
- Calibrate equipment where necessary, reporting all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration to the Line Manager.
- Maintain and monitor adequate stock levels of spare parts to respond to call‑outs in a timely manner.
- Produce quality service documentation for submission to the customer.
- Maintain regular communication with the internal Service Department, Technical Department and Service Managers.
- Follow the correct returns and non‑conformance report procedures at all times.
- Organise and prioritise a continuously changing workload, ensuring that customers’ calls and enquiries are responded to quickly and effectively.
- Produce accurate and timely written/electronic reports as required.
- Provide Validation reports within specified time frames.
- Assist team members as required.
- Provide sales leads to relevant Service/Sales Managers.
- Observe and comply with Quality System duties and responsibilities at all times.
- Observe and comply with company and on‑site Health & Safety requirements at all times.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, or sufficient equivalent experience.
- Experience of field‑based work.
- IT skills including Microsoft Office; experience of using CRM systems such as GForce.
- A strong work ethic and first‑rate organisational skills.
- A positive attitude towards working as part of a team and on own initiative, and a willingness to travel and work away from home where necessary.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a desire to deliver the best possible service to customers.
