We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to support our Bioprocessing and Life Sciences portfolio across the South of England & Midlands. You’ll work directly with hospitals and healthcare facilities, carrying out preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and validation to ensure critical equipment performs exactly as it should, every time. This is a true field‑based role with a high level of independence, backed by strong technical support from our UK Service Office, Service Managers and our Technical Services Department.
What you’ll be working on:
- Service, test, calibrate, and repair specialist medical equipment to defined standards
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance in line with service contracts and SLAs
- Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs efficiently, offering on‑site and remote support
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, and instrumentation faults
- Support customers in regulated environments, ensuring uptime and compliance
- Produce accurate service, maintenance, and validation documentation
- Complete work orders and reports using Salesforce service asset management systems
- Manage service parts inventory, returns, and quarantine of defective components
- Maintain and calibrate service tools and test equipment
- Ensure full compliance with Getinge QMS, quality standards, and ESD requirements
- Build long‑term relationships by owning and supporting assigned customer sites
- Share field insights, quality feedback, and customer issues with internal teams
About you:
You’re an engineer first and foremost and are comfortable working independently in the field, confident in front of customers, and calm under pressure. You likely bring:
- A qualification (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
- Experience as a Field Service Engineer or onsite maintenance engineer, ideally in Life Sciences, pharma, biotech, or a regulated process environment
- A solid technical foundation across instrumentation, mechanics, electrics, and electronics
- Strong organisational skills and a calm, methodical approach under pressure
- Confidence working directly with customers in production or laboratory settings
- Good IT skills for service software, diagnostics, and reporting
- A willingness to travel up to 80% of the time across your region to support customer sites
Desirable but not essential:
- Knowledge and experience of service/testing of sterilisers and/or bioreactor devices
- Experience in a maintenance/service engineer field‑based or onsite role, supporting multiple customers
