We are looking for a dedicated Service Engineer to contribute towards our SWP service team across the North West of England with the ideal candidate being based in Preston, Wigan, Blackburn or Bolton. Getinge is a well-respected Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), saving lives through the manufacture and maintenance of a range of medical devices and solutions. Our Service Team is at the forefront of our business, responsible for routine servicing, testing and repairing of our equipment in hospitals and facilities throughout the UK and Ireland.
You will have the opportunity to make a difference by utilising your technical knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth operation of our machines in the field, representing the business and building relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver the best possible service. This is a field-based role and you will need to be a self-starter with experience of managing your own workload. Although you will be mostly working independently, you will be supported by regular contact with the Service Office, Service Managers and our Technical Services Department which has direct access to Getinge manufacturing sites and a wealth of technical know-how and expertise.
The successful candidate will have a background and relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering. Comprehensive training on Getinge’s equipment will be provided by our dedicated in-house training team. Through our Career Progression Pathway, all Engineers have their development assessed bi-annually against our bespoke Engineer competency-based banding structure – meaning that the more you learn and develop, the more you will be rewarded.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- To cultivate a positive rapport with the customer, demonstrating first class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
- To carry out mechanical and electrical servicing of equipment.
- To carry out routine testing of Getinge equipment to the relevant standards as stated in terms and conditions of the client’s contract.
- To carry out electrical/mechanical fault finding of equipment.
- To carry out calibration of equipment, where necessary.
- To maintain adequate stock levels of spare parts.
- To produce quality documentation for submission to the customer.
- To maintain regular communication with the internal Service Department.
- To ensure the company equipment is being used and looked after correctly and that it is kept in a safe condition.
- To report all faulty equipment or equipment out of calibration to Service Supervisor.
- To ensure that correct returns and non-conformance report procedures are followed.
- To organize and prioritize a continuously changing workload, ensuring that all customers’ calls and enquiries are replied to.
- To ensure safe and tidy working including use of protective footwear, work wear and hard hats where required for local site working.
- To problem solve, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all aspects of the position.
- To provide sales leads to Service/Sales Manager.
- To provide out of hours stand by cover, on a rota basis, in order to accommodate the needs of our customers when needed.
- To produce written/electronic reports, as and when required/requested.
- To submit accurately completed expense claim forms, with supportive documentation, on time. Also validation and service reports in specified time frames.
- To maintain telephone contact with the office on a regular basis and with line supervisor.
- To assist the team members as and when required/requested.
- To undertake any other duties as and when required.

What you need:
- A recognised qualification in Electrical / Electronic / Mechanical Engineering (such as City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or an equivalent qualification).
- Experience of field-based work.
- CSCS (Service & Facilities) HVACR Skills Card is desired.
- HTM2030/01-06 or HTM2010/01-01 certification is desirable.
- IT skills including Microsoft Office; experience of using CRM systems such as GForce.
- A strong work ethic and first-rate organisational skills.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude towards working as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Genuine interest in people and be able to deal with customers in a friendly manner.
- Excellent communication skills and a desire to deliver the best possible service to customers.
