We're looking for a Lead Engineer, an individual contributor role, to help shape how our engineering team builds in an AI-native environment. You'll join our cross-functional product team in London, shaping technical direction while working hands‑on to build user‑facing AI‑native products.

Our engineering culture puts AI as a first‑class citizen, not just in the products we ship, but in how we write code, reason about systems, and scale ourselves as engineers. We look for Lead Engineers who set the bar for how a team builds across the stack, and who are comfortable working alongside AI tools as a co‑pilot in both discovery and delivery.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely cross functionally to understand customer needs, taking ideas from concept all the way through to deployment.
  • Enjoy a lot of ownership and freedom, navigating a fast‑moving environment where things aren't always clearly defined.
  • Build and maintain user‑facing products across the stack. Today that means React, Remix, and TypeScript on the frontend, and Golang on the backend, but you'll work fluidly across both.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to ship high‑quality features fast, using AI tools as leverage in your day‑to‑day development.
  • Help define new engineering practices for an AI‑native development environment.
  • Mentor other engineers and help us scale our engineering culture.

What we're looking for:

  • A track record of owning technical initiatives, and being a senior technical voice in the room on a given problem.
  • Product and commercial thinking.
  • Comfortable moving between frontend and backend development, even if you have a background leaning more heavily one way.
  • A curiosity and excitement about using AI tools to build better software faster.
  • Familiarity with React, Remix, and TypeScript is great, but not essential.
  • Experience setting or influencing engineering practices, not just following them.
  • A track record of mentoring or supporting other engineers.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary.
  • EMI share options.
  • Private health.
  • Private dental.
  • 12 Mental health days off annually (1 per month) PLUS holidays + public holidays.
  • 1 paid Community day off (paid day off to volunteer for a charitable cause).
  • Hybrid working (check details with your recruiter).
  • Free breakfast daily.
  • Team and company‑wide events.
  • 360° performance reviews to promote a culture of growth and development.
  • Support for conferences and professional learning & development.

We encourage applications from all sections of society and we believe in the criticality of an inclusive culture. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis as protected by law.

42% of our employees identify as female or non‑specified, 58% as male, with 22 nationalities represented across offices in 5 countries.

Inclusion is at the heart of our culture - we celebrate and reflect on key D&I and cultural events such as: Black History Month, International Women's Day and Pride.

How to prepare for a job interview at GetGround Group

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If GetGround Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
