Our client is a leading infrastructure and energy investment organisation working across Africa's electricity networks. They provide capital and technical expertise to transmission, distribution, and renewable energy businesses, supporting clean, reliable power for communities and businesses across the continent. Due to business growth, they are expanding their technical capabilities and are seeking a Power Networks Lead to join their London-based Engineering Team. This is a senior engineering role responsible for managing and delivering Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) network projects across both rural and urban environments. The role offers international exposure, with significant travel to Africa, and the opportunity to contribute to transformative energy infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the subject matter expert for T&D networks, providing guidance on design, standards, and network topology.
- Support Engineering, Business Development, and Project Teams on technical project aspects.
- Manage power network projects end-to-end: planning, design, implementation, and commissioning.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve project performance and delivery.
- Engage effectively with internal teams, clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate risks to project delivery and operational performance.
- Champion innovation, adoption of new technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- BE (Engineering) degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years experience in power transmission and distribution networks.
- Proven project management experience delivering T&D projects.
- Knowledge of the African electricity utility industry and regulatory environment is advantageous.
- Understanding of Health & Safety requirements in the power sector.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in English; French-speaking candidates are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel internationally for project delivery.
