Our client’s mission is to support young people from a variety of backgrounds, including those with mental health concerns, care leavers, neurodivergence, and unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. They focus on fostering independence and personal responsibility, providing tailored services that empower people with the skills, resilience, and support needed to make informed decisions that positively shape their futures. Their goal is to enable them to pursue their aspirations and lead fulfilling, autonomous lives.

The House Leader will be responsible for leading and supporting young people with diverse abilities, many of whom may have experienced trauma or Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in a supportive living environment. Their supported living accommodation properties offer a range of support, from high needs through to a move-on model, all designed with the young people at their heart to ensure they develop the skills necessary for independent living. This role requires a trauma-informed approach, providing compassionate, hands-on assistance while promoting safety, stability, and empowerment. The House Leader will also lead and supervise a team of support staff, ensuring the highest quality of support is delivered and that the individual needs and well-being of each young person are consistently met.

Duties:

  • Oversee the implementation of individual support plans and risk assessments for each young person, in consultation with the young person, their professional network, and trusted adults.
  • Supervise and direct the work of Support Workers, ensuring direct reports receive ongoing training and regular supervisions as well as giving new team members a thorough house induction, to ensure the delivery of high-quality support services to young people.
  • Ensure compliance with all CQC and Ofsted regulatory requirements, including licensing, health and safety regulations, and national guidelines.
  • Report Health Safety concerns, safeguarding incidents, and ongoing maintenance issues to the Service Manager as well as oversee the maintenance of the physical premises.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive culture at the facility, promoting residents' participation in community activities and events.
  • Act as the on-call point of contact within a dedicated on-call team which is determined by a weekly rota basis.

Candidate Attributes and desirable skills:

  • Level 4 Adult Social Care / Children and Young People or equivalent or working towards.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with a range of complex needs, or other related populations, like in a residential or community-based setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with external stakeholders including family members, healthcare/local authority providers, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect residents' privacy and autonomy.
  • As a 24/7 service which operates 365 days a year, the ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends if necessary is required.
