Our client is a one stop shop for sustainable technologies. They both supply and install systems including ground and air source heat pumps, underfloor heating, cooling, MVHR, solar PV and battery storage. They are now seeking an enthusiastic and hardworking Electrical Building Services Engineer to join their rapidly growing team. The successful candidate will work in the North London office at least 2 – 3 days a week, with homeworking available for the rest of the time. The right candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of Building Services Engineers, undertaking electrical design for new installations and refurbishment projects. You will be involved in a variety of domestic and commercial renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Developing project designs from conception through to completion.
- Designing and specifying electrical systems associated with renewable technologies (including solar PV, heat pumps, MVHR and battery storage systems).
- Electrical distribution design including LV systems, containment, cabling, protection and earthing arrangements.
- Producing electrical drawings, schematics and installation documentation for confirmed projects.
- Carrying out system sizing calculations and load assessments.
- Advising on integration of renewable energy technologies with existing electrical infrastructure.
Your overall responsibilities will encompass:
- Electrical design of renewable energy systems and production of drawings and specifications.
- Assisting in the management of existing projects, including attending site meetings and planning installation programmes.
- Undertaking site surveys and preparing technical reports.
- Ensuring compliance with current electrical regulations and relevant MCS Standards.
- Liaising with DNOs where required for grid connections and approvals.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (Electrical).
- Experience in Electrical Building Services design, ideally including renewable energy technologies.
- Knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and current Building Regulations.
- Familiarity with G98/G99 grid connection processes.
- Experience producing electrical calculations and designs (e.g. load calculations, cable sizing, fault level, discrimination).
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Good project management, specification and report writing skills.
- Understanding of current legislation and compliance standards including Building Regulations and MCS.
