Maintenance Operative / Person / Handyman

Our client is a well-established and growing residential property management company operating across London.
They are looking for a reliable, practical and experienced Maintenance Person / Handyman to join their in-house maintenance team.
This is a permanent employed position suited to someone with approximately 2+ years' experience in residential property maintenance who is confident working independently, managing their daily jobs and providing a professional service to tenants.

The successful candidate will have
- Minimum 2 years' experience in residential property maintenance or a similar handyman / multi-trade role.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good general property maintenance and repair skills.
- Basic plumbing knowledge and ability to carry out minor plumbing repairs.
- Basic electrical knowledge for minor maintenance tasks.
- Painting and decorating experience.
- Basic carpentry skills.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot common domestic appliance faults.
- Experience changing locks, handles, fittings and carrying out small installations.
- Ability to assemble and repair furniture.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify when a specialist contractor is required.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with tenants.
- Ability to organise your workload and work independently.
- Own basic hand tools required.
- Specialist equipment, larger tools and materials required for specific jobs will be provided by the company where appropriate.
What will your role look like?
You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance across our client's residential property portfolio in London, including:
- Carrying out routine repairs and general maintenance.
- Attending and resolving maintenance issues reported by tenants.
- Troubleshooting problems and identifying appropriate solutions.
- Minor plumbing repairs.
- Minor electrical maintenance.
- Painting and decorating.
- Basic carpentry and making good.
- Replacing locks, handles, light fittings and other fixtures.
- Installing shelves, curtain poles and other small fittings.
- Checking and troubleshooting domestic appliances.
- Furniture assembly and minor furniture repairs.
- Silicone, sealing and finishing works.
- Small installations and general property repairs.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
- Helping prepare properties and rooms between tenancies.
- Identifying and reporting larger repairs that require specialist contractors.
- Liaising with external tradespeople and contractors when required.
- Collecting and delivering materials, keys or other items between properties.
- Responding to occasional urgent maintenance issues where required.
- Keeping the company informed of completed works and any follow-up action required.
