Contract Details:

  • Temporary contract

  • Locations: Portsmouth & Chichester
  • Pay: £17.00‑25.00ph; £25‑30ph for night shift
  • Weekly pay
  • 14 weeks / Ongoing / Ad-hoc
  • 24‑hour support service

Requirements:

  • Must have held your HGV1 licence for 1 year
  • Must have container experience (DP World Card essential)
  • Day shifts start between 4.00‑6.00am
  • Night shifts start between 4.00‑9.00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Operate HGV Class 1 articulated lorries with automatic gearboxes, primarily for container transport.
  • Complete deliveries and collections efficiently.
  • Utilise smartphone or tablet devices to log collections, drops, and status updates in real‑time.
  • Comply with all site‑specific procedures, especially within port environments.
  • Observe all Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations, ensuring accurate logging of driving hours, breaks, and rest periods.
  • Follow health & safety protocols and adhere to both agency and client operational policies.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and provide excellent service to clients and customers.

Skills and Experience:

  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) licence.
  • Valid DP World Card.
  • Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC).
  • Valid Digital Tachograph card.
  • Ability to use electronic devices (EPODs, smartphones, instruction screens).
  • No more than 6 penalty points on driving licence.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience driving HGV1 class vehicles with containers.
  • Good level of English (spoken, written, understood).
  • Strong working knowledge of UK motorway network and WTD regulations.
