Our Client are currently looking for a Design Engineer / BID Coordinator to join their highly valued team on a full-time basis. This Company are a reputable business with over 20 years’ experience within the Industry. They are currently entering another period of growth and are looking to expand their team to keep up with high customer demand.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • System Design: Design tailored security systems, including CCTV, and access control solutions that meet customer specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Bid Coordination: Lead and support the preparation of bids and tender proposals, ensuring accurate technical specifications and costings are included.
  • Client Interaction: Conduct site surveys and meetings with clients to understand their security needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Proposal Preparation: Create detailed, competitive proposals and quotations that align with client requirements and company standards.
  • Project Planning: Work closely with the project management team to ensure smooth transition from bid phase to project execution, ensuring designs are implemented accurately.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design layouts, bid documents, contracts, and progress reports.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams, including engineers, sales, and management, to ensure all technical and commercial aspects of bids are considered.
  • Quality Assurance: Take ownership of the quality of design work and bid submissions, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and fostering long-term business.
  • Sales Support: Identify new opportunities within the market and contribute to lead generation through proactive networking and market research.
  • Cost Estimation: Provide accurate cost estimations for the design and installation of security systems, ensuring profitability while maintaining competitive pricing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to ensure designs remain innovative and competitive.

Skills and Experience:

  • Industry Experience: At least 2-3 years’ experience working in design engineering, bid coordination, or project management within the security sector is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of security systems, including CCTV, fire alarms, access control, and intruder alarms.
  • Bid Management: Experience in preparing bids, tenders, and proposals in a competitive environment.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to both clients and internal teams.
  • Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Positive Attitude: A self-motivated and proactive individual with a can-do attitude.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Relevant qualifications such as HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Security Systems, or a similar field would be advantageous.
