Recruitment Consultant - Employability & Skills
Job Introduction
Recruitment Consultant - Employability & Skills
Your sales skills. Real opportunities. Meaningful results.
You know how to win new business, build relationships and deliver against sales targets. Now use those skills to help people find employment.
At Get Set UK, you'll develop employer relationships, generate vacancies and connect jobseekers with opportunities.
This is a target-driven sales role involving cold sales calls, employer visits and measurable employment outcomes. You'll also spend time daily in the offices you cover, working with Employment Advisors and getting to know the jobseekers you're representing.
Salary: £31,000-£35,000, plus up to £800 quarterly performance bonus.
Before you apply: the essentials
To be considered, your CV and application must clearly demonstrate:
- Proven experience in sales, recruitment or business development, including personally winning new business or customers.
- Evidence of achieving measurable sales or commercial targets, including how you monitored your performance, responded to setbacks and improved your results.
- Experience approaching decision-makers, handling objections and converting conversations into genuine business opportunities.
- Evidence of building productive customer or client relationships, including handling difficult conversations and finding mutually beneficial solutions.
- Experience working proactively with colleagues and external contacts to identify opportunities, share information and achieve agreed outcomes.
- Evidence of commitment, reliability and consistently delivering high standards of work, including delivering agreed objectives.
- Ability to present your recent employment history clearly, including explaining gaps or short-term roles during the previous five years.
- Confident working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn CRM and other digital systems.
Show us what you've achieved. Include sales targets, new business wins, placements or other measurable results on your CV. Explain your personal contribution, not just the responsibilities of your previous roles.
Useful, but not essential
- Recruitment consultancy experience.
- Knowledge of employability or skills programmes.
- Experience managing a sales pipeline through a CRM.
The real job
You'll prospect for new employers, make cold sales calls and develop relationships that generate genuine vacancies.
You'll spend time in the offices you cover, meeting jobseekers, understanding their skills and working with Employment Advisors to identify suitable opportunities.
You'll manage employer relationships, arrange interviews, follow up opportunities and maintain accurate CRM records.
You'll also need to recognise when your approach isn't producing results, adjust your activity and keep your pipeline moving.
Your results will be measured through the vacancies, interviews, job starts and sustainable employment outcomes you help generate.
What success looks like
You consistently develop employer relationships that produce vacancies, interviews and successful job starts.
You understand the people you're representing and work closely with Advisors to match their skills with employer requirements.
You take ownership of your pipeline, follow up consistently and adjust your approach when results fall short.
The working reality
This is a sales role, not a desk-based recruitment administration position.
You'll need to enjoy prospecting, cold calling and working towards targets. Rejection is part of the job, and you'll need to keep generating opportunities when employers aren't recruiting.
Daily presence in the offices you cover is essential. You'll need to be visible, approachable and actively engaged with jobseekers and Advisor colleagues, rather than managing employer relationships remotely.
What you get
- £31,000-£35,000 salary, plus up to £800 quarterly performance bonus.
- Monday to Friday working, with no weekends.
- 25 days' annual leave, increasing with service.
- Vitality health and wellbeing support, including GP services, mental health support and physiotherapy.
- 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, including up to six counselling sessions a year and legal, financial and debt guidance.
- Workplace pension, with salary sacrifice available subject to eligibility and scheme rules.
- Share buy scheme.
- Up to £360 a year through IncentFit for eligible activities.
- Wellbeing, retail, fitness, travel and mobile discounts, including 20% off eligible EE mobile plans.

Apply through our recruitment platform and complete the short initial questionnaire. If you start your application through Indeed or LinkedIn, you will still need to complete this step before we can review your application.
We assess your CV and application against the essential criteria and the evidence you provide. Keep your CV concise, focusing on what you personally achieved, owned or delivered. One to two pages will suit many applicants, although up to three may be appropriate.
If shortlisted, the process may include a recruitment call or Teams conversation, role-related questionnaire, assessment or testing, and a hiring-manager interview with a practical exercise where relevant. Preparation, responsiveness and attention to detail matter throughout.
Get Set UK is committed to safer recruitment practices to help protect our colleagues and the people we support.
As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to provide a complete and accurate history of your employment and other relevant activity for the previous five years, including explanations for any gaps, together with referee details covering the previous three years.
Please ensure the information you provide is complete and accurate, as we may be unable to progress your application until our safer recruitment requirements have been completed.
Depending on the role, further pre-employment checks may include references, right-to-work checks, DBS checks and/or other appropriate vetting.
Any offer is conditional on satisfactory applicable checks.
