About the role: Are you passionate about helping people into real, sustainable jobs? Get Set is delivering Connect to Work across Hertfordshire - a voluntary employment support programme designed to help people move into and stay in work. Connect to Work supports people with:
- Disabilities
- Long-term health conditions (physical and mental)
- Complex life or employment barriers
- A risk of falling out of work due to health or personal challenges
The focus is simple: work first, with the right support around the individual. As an Employment Specialist, you will manage a caseload of participants, work closely with local stakeholders and employers to deliver personalised, practical support to help people secure and sustain paid employment. Full training in the IPS (Individual Placement and Support) approach is provided.
What you will do:
- Supporting people into work
- Manage a caseload of participants with health conditions, disabilities or facing complex barriers to employment
- Meet participants regularly to understand their:
- Skills
- Strengths
- Aspirations
- Employment goals
- Job search
- CVs and applications
- Interview preparation
- In-work support to help people stay in employment
- Build positive, professional relationships with local employers
- Source suitable job opportunities aligned to participants’ strengths
- Support employers with:
- Reasonable adjustments
- Return-to-work strategies
- Ongoing in-work support
- Work collaboratively with:
- Health services (including NHS and Primary Care)
- Jobcentre Plus
- Local authorities
- Education and training providers
- Voluntary and community sector organisations
- Maintain accurate case records and outcome data
- Deliver support in line with IPS principles and service standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement and service development
- Work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours support where required
About you: We are looking for people who are motivated, adaptable and outcome-focused. You do not need to come from a health background - transferable skills are welcome. You may have experience in:
- Employability or careers support
- Coaching, mentoring or advisory roles
- Sales, recruitment or employer engagement
- Community or support services
- Health, social care or voluntary sector roles
You will bring:
- Experience managing people, clients or customers in a caseload or target-driven environment
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence engaging employers and partners
- Good IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- A solution-focused mindset and belief in people’s potential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
