About the Role
We are looking for a Freelance Vocational Tutor – Retail & Customer Care to deliver structured, practical learning that prepares young people for front-line roles. You will teach accredited qualifications in retail, customer service and employability, helping learners move towards sustainable work.

Your role is to show learners what good customer care looks like in real workplaces. You will build their confidence with communication, teamwork, problem solving and basic sales skills. Success looks like learners who can walk into interviews and first jobs ready to represent an employer well.
Environment / Working Conditions
- Location: centre-based delivery in Belfast
- This is not a home-based role

What You Will Do
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons in retail and customer care
- Teach accredited vocational qualifications in Retail, Customer Service and related areas
- Use real scenarios, role plays and case studies from retail and service environments
- Prepare learners for assessment, interviews and first roles
- Promote positive attitudes to work, reliability and professional behaviour
- Build strong relationships that encourage attendance and progression
- Keep accurate registers, records and learner documentation
- Work with internal teams to meet engagement, retention, achievement and compliance targets
Employer / Stakeholder Element
- Use examples from local retail and service employers to keep content relevant
- Help learners understand employer expectations such as timekeeping, appearance and customer care standards
- Represent Get Set UK professionally with external partners and stakeholders

What You Will Bring
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Retail, Customer Service, Business, Hospitality or related subject
- PGCE, CIT or recognised teaching qualification, or willingness to start the CIT within two years of appointment
- Hands-on experience in retail, hospitality or customer-facing roles
- Experience teaching, coaching or training others
- Ability to plan, deliver and adapt sessions for different abilities
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Passion for helping young people progress into work
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and professional standards
A Day in the Role
Your day starts with checking your group list, resources and lesson plan. In the session, you set expectations around timekeeping, behaviour and customer care standards. You use practical scenarios, discussions and role plays to bring retail situations to life. You praise progress, challenge poor behaviour and keep learners focused on real-world expectations. After teaching, you complete registers, update learner records and plan the next session based on who is on track and who needs more support. The work is structured, people-focused and results-driven.
