About the Role
This role exists to make sure employability services do what they are meant to do. Deliver results. Protect quality. Support people properly. You will be accountable for the operational delivery, performance and quality of a contract. Success is measured clearly. Outcomes achieved. KPIs met. Teams performing confidently and consistently. This is a leadership role with clear ownership of results.
What This Role Is Really About
This is not strategic oversight from a distance. You will be close to performance, data and people. Targets exist because outcomes matter. Data matters because decisions must be fair and evidence‑led. Standards matter because services must be safe, compliant and credible. You will need to balance empathy with challenge. Progress will not always be neat. Consistency is what delivers impact over time. You will operate in a regulated, publicly funded environment. Structure matters here.
What You Will Do
- Lead teams to consistently achieve contractual KPIs and job outcomes
- Set clear performance expectations and act early where delivery is at risk
- Develop Team Leaders and Advisors to work with confidence and discipline
- Ensure safeguarding, compliance and data integrity standards are met at all times
- Use performance data to identify trends, risks and improvement actions
- Plan resources, caseloads and capacity to maintain stable delivery
- Manage operational risk calmly and decisively
- Build credible relationships with commissioners and partners
- Take responsibility for funded delivery and value for money
What Makes Someone Successful Here
They do not avoid difficult conversations. They are comfortable owning results. They use data to guide action, not opinion. They lead with clarity, consistency and professionalism. They care about people, and understand that outcomes require discipline.
What You Will Bring
- Experience leading teams in a target‑driven environment
- Evidence of delivering against contractual KPIs
- Experience in regulated or publicly funded services
- Confidence managing performance and underperformance
- Clear, professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Resilience under pressure
- Trainable Internal systems and reporting tools
A Day in the Role
You might start by reviewing performance data and risk areas. A call with a Team Leader where outcomes are slipping. A safeguarding check that needs tightening. A commissioner conversation about delivery confidence. Time spent coaching an advisor, not rescuing them. Decisions made early, not delayed.
What You Will Get From This Role
Senior operational leadership experience. Clear accountability and authority. Exposure to commissioner relationships. Support from senior operational leaders. Career progression in a growing organisation. You will be able to point to real outcomes you have delivered. You will also receive:
- Vitality (GP access, mental health and physio support)
- IncentFit (earn up to £360 for staying active)
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Pension with 5% employer / 3% employee contribution
- Increased annual leave with service
