TECHNICAL CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVISOR
NORTH FAMBRIDGE, CHELMSFORD
CIRCA £35,000 + COMPANY BONUS
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Do you have an electrical background and enjoy helping customers understand products and solve technical problems?
Get Recruited is recruiting on behalf of an established engineering business for a Technical Customer Service Advisor to join its small, friendly team. You'll use your electrical knowledge to answer technical enquiries, support customers and keep their orders moving.
This opportunity would suit a Technical Support Advisor or Customer Service Executive with an electrical background who enjoys answering product questions and helping customers. You'll join long-serving colleagues in a business that values health, family and work, with regular team dinners and your birthday off.
THE TECHNICAL CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVISOR ROLE:
You’ll combine the product knowledge of a Technical Support Advisor with the customer care and order administration skills of a Customer Service Executive.
-
Handle customer enquiries by telephone and email, asking relevant questions to understand their requirements and provide clear, accurate advice.
-
Explain electrical product functions and specifications, helping customers understand technical information and how components operate.
-
Read technical datasheets, electrical schematics and connection diagrams to answer questions about relays, control circuits and associated components.
-
Investigate product performance and fault enquiries, gathering information about the application, connections and symptoms to establish the next steps.
-
Liaise with technical colleagues and the overseas manufacturing team to resolve complex questions, keeping customers informed throughout.
-
Manage enquiries through the shared inbox, maintaining clear records and following outstanding queries through to resolution.
-
Process customer orders accurately, checking product references, quantities and requirements before entering them into the order management system.
-
Answer questions about availability, order progress and deliveries, coordinating with colleagues to resolve issues.
-
Assist with picking and packing orders when required, contributing to the practical running of a small team.
-
Adapt to new systems as the business introduces more automated ordering and customer administration processes.
THE PERSON:
-
Experience as a Technical Support Advisor, Customer Service Executive or in a similar position supporting customers with electrical or electronic products.
-
Alternatively, an electrical engineering background with experience explaining technical information to customers.
-
A sound understanding of electrical components and how they function within a circuit.
-
Confident reading electrical diagrams and technical datasheets, including supply voltages, relay contacts and connection arrangements.
-
Clear communication skills, patience and a methodical approach to investigating customer problems.
-
Strong attention to detail when processing orders, recording information and following up enquiries.
-
As a Technical Customer Service Advisor, you'll be comfortable balancing technical enquiries, order processing and practical tasks within a small team.
-
A relevant technical qualification is desirable, ideally in electrical or electronic engineering.
-
Experience with relays, control panels or industrial automation products would be advantageous.
A Technical Support Advisor will bring experience investigating product questions; a Customer Service Executive will need the electrical knowledge to handle those conversations confidently.
We are an equal opportunities employer and we never charge candidates a fee for our services.
