BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, BASINGSTOKE

As the business continues to grow, they're looking to appoint their first dedicated sales professional to work alongside the Managing Director, who has successfully driven all commercial activity to date.
This is a unique opportunity to be mentored directly by the MD, inherit established customer relationships, and play a key role in shaping the future sales function of the business.

The Role
This is a highly collaborative position where you'll spend time both in the office and visiting customers across the local region, working alongside the Operations Manager, Design Engineers and Shop Floor team to ensure customers receive the highest level of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage long-term relationships with an established portfolio of customers.
- Learn the company's products, services and technical capabilities through hands-on mentoring from the Managing Director.
- Visit customers on-site to understand their requirements and identify commercial opportunities.
- Generate new business opportunities through networking, lead generation and marketing activity.
- Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial solutions tailored to customer requirements.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and production team to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
- Collaborate with Design Engineers to develop bespoke customer solutions.
- Manage the full sales process from enquiry through to order and ongoing account management.
- Maintain regular customer contact to maximise repeat business and identify upselling opportunities.
- Represent the business professionally at customer meetings and industry events where required.
- Help shape and develop the future sales strategy as the business continues to expand.
About You
We're looking for an ambitious, relationship-focused sales professional who enjoys working in a close-knit business where you can genuinely make an impact.
- Previous experience within a Technical Sales, Internal Sales, Account Management or Business Development position.
- Experience working within engineering, manufacturing, industrial or technical products would be highly advantageous.
- Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
- Comfortable visiting customers and managing accounts face-to-face.
- Commercially aware with the ability to identify opportunities for business growth.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn from experienced business leaders.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
