ACCOUNTS SENIORCHESTER (HYBRID)UP TO 55,000THE OPPORTUNITY A fast-growing accountancy practice is looking to appoint a qualified Accounts Senior on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a varied, client-facing role involving responsibility for a portfolio consisting primarily of SMEs and start-up businesses. You will prepare statutory accounts, management accounts and corporation tax returns while providing clients with practical financial guidance as their businesses develop. The position would suit an ACA or ACCA-qualified accountant with at least three years' accountancy practice experience who can manage client assignments, maintain strong relationships with business owners and support junior colleagues.THE ACCOUNTS SENIOR ROLEManaging a portfolio of SME and start-up clientsActing as the principal day-to-day contact for clientsPreparing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole tradersManaging accounts assignments from initial records through to completionPreparing corporation tax computations and company tax returnsProducing monthly and quarterly management accountsPreparing and reviewing VAT returnsReviewing bookkeeping records and balance-sheet reconciliationsIdentifying and resolving errors, discrepancies and accounting queriesSupporting clients with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow planningProviding clear commentary on financial performanceExplaining financial information to business owners from non-finance backgroundsIdentifying potential accounting, tax and commercial issuesLiaising with HMRC and external advisers when requiredReviewing work completed by junior members of the teamProviding coaching, feedback and technical support to less experienced colleaguesMonitoring client deadlines and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficientlyMaintaining accurate working papers in accordance with the practice's quality standardsSupporting managers and partners with advisory projects and complex assignmentsTHE PERSONBe ACA or ACCA qualifiedHave at least three years' experience working within an accountancy practiceHave experience managing or supporting a portfolio of SME and start-up clientsBe experienced in preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax returnsHave experience producing management accounts and VAT returnsBe confident communicating directly with business owners and senior stakeholdersBe able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance clientsHave excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracyBe organised and able to manage competing client deadlinesHave experience reviewing junior colleagues' work or be comfortable taking on this responsibilityBe commercially aware, proactive and interested in developing broader advisory experienceHave experience using accountancy software such as Xero, QuickBooks or SageKnowledge of accounts production and tax software would be beneficialTO APPLY This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Accounts Senior to manage a varied portfolio of growing businesses while developing their client advisory experience within a supportive accountancy practice.By sending an application or applying for a job, you consent to your personal data being processed and stored by Get Recruited (UK) Ltd in accordance with our Cookie & Privacy Policy (available in the footer on our website).
