My client is a well‑established, family run business specialising in haulage for construction equipment. They are now looking for an experienced Transport Planner who can coordinate the logistics for mainly flat‑bed, varied construction equipment across the UK. Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule nationwide routes for drivers.
- Monitor and amend routes as and when needed.
- Develop relationships with new and existing clients.
- Communicate with drivers regarding work allocation and resolve any issues that arise.
- Make effective decisions on the use of sub‑contractors.
- Communicate with and come to agreements with suppliers.
- Ensure the required maintenance is taken out on vehicles and equipment.
- Utilise the internal TMS to log resources and data.
Skills Required
- Experienced Transport Planner, Scheduler or Coordinator, ideally with flat‑bed truck experience.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage a large workload.
- Confidence to liaise with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK.
- Self‑motivated with a proactive, ‘can‑do’ attitude.
- Highly organised with good attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to converse with and build relationships with customers.
