ESOL Tutor Wanted – Hillingdon Refugee Support Organisation (HRSO) – West Drayton
Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people in building English language skills, confidence, and independence? HRSO is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic ESOL Tutor to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of learners who are developing their English skills for education, employment, and everyday life.
About us: HRSO is a registered charity supporting young unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees (aged 16–21, and up to 25 for care leavers where applicable) in the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, Hounslow, Harrow and other nearby boroughs referred primarily by Social Services and Virtual Schools.
The Role: You will plan and deliver tailored high-quality ESOL teaching (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and contribute to life skills learning to support integration. You will teach in small groups and 1:1 as needed, using engaging, differentiated resources, and you will monitor learner progress and outcomes. Delivery is hybrid (in-person and online). The role is pivotal in enhancing young refugees’ well-being and successful community integration. It is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, Henry Smith Charity, and BBC Children in Need.
What we are looking for (essential):
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., CELTA, TESOL, PGCE or equivalent).
- Experience teaching ESOL or English as a Second Language, ideally with young adults/refugees.
- Confident using digital platforms (especially Zoom) and blended learning.
- Strong communication, patience, organisation and record-keeping skills.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding and professional development.
- An Enhanced DBS.
