Would you like a varied retail role where you can make a real difference while supporting a local animal welfare charity? The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare is looking for a Retail Assistant to join our Uckfield charity shop team for one day per week. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. One minute you could be welcoming customers and donors, the next sorting stock, merchandising items or supporting volunteers. Every item sold helps fund the care and welfare of rescued and rehomed animals at The Kit Wilson Trust.
This role requires someone who is comfortable taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop when working independently. You will help ensure the shop operates safely and effectively, supervise volunteers, maintain standards and follow procedures while providing excellent service to our supporters and customers.
Main Duties Include:- Providing excellent customer service to customers, donors and supporters.
- Supervising and supporting volunteers on shift.
- Processing, pricing and merchandising donated stock.
- Maintaining shop standards, housekeeping and stock organisation.
- Operating the till.
- Opening and closing the shop and cashing up where required.
- Ensuring security, health and safety and GDPR procedures are followed.
- Acting as a positive representative of The Kit Wilson Trust.
- Has retail, charity retail or customer service experience.
- Is confident working independently and taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of a shop.
- Can motivate and work effectively alongside volunteers of different ages and backgrounds.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Has good customer service and communication skills.
- Is comfortable using tills, card machines and basic technology.
- Previous charity retail experience.
- Previous Keyholder experience.
- Knowledge of brands, fashion or donated stock standards.

The role may require flexibility in working hours and may include weekend (Saturday) working.
