At the British Institute of Human Rights, we work to make the Human Rights Act a practical tool for everyday justice across health, care, education, housing and welfare. As political pressure on the HRA and ECHR intensifies, we are strengthening our team to ensure people’s rights remain protected in daily life. We are looking for a skilled communicator with strong policy and parliamentary awareness to help shape public narratives, influence decision‑makers, and amplify lived experience.

You’ll lead our external communications, support evidence‑informed policy work, and engage with parliamentarians, officials and sector partners.

  • Lead BIHR’s media, digital, and website communications
  • Produce clear, accessible content on human rights issues
  • Shape policy positions grounded in the HRA/ECHR and real life experiences
  • Build relationships with parliamentarians and officials
  • Represent BIHR at key political and sector events
  • Help safeguard and champion human rights in the UK

You’ll bring:

  • Communications and media experience
  • Policy and/or parliamentary engagement experience
  • Ability to translate complex law/policy into plain English
  • Strong organisational and digital skills (incl. Canva, social media)
  • Commitment to human rights and BIHR’s mission
  • Ability to travel to London regularly (within ~1 hour)
