We’re looking for a detail-focused and proactive Finance Assistant to join us at Lifeworks Charity. You will support with all things finance-related, making sure our accounts stay accurate and our financial reporting is clear and compliant, allowing our services to focus on the people that we support.
Since 1996, we’ve been empowering people with learning disabilities in Devon to achieve their dreams and build fulfilling lives. We currently have 3 thriving services at Lifeworks:
- College: providing education and life skills to 16–24-year-olds
- Sesame House: 24/7 care for 4 adults with learning disabilities
- Day Services: Consistent care and support throughout the year, school holidays and weekends
What you’ll do:
- Process invoices with high accuracy using Xero, ApprovalMax and Apron, ensuring our suppliers are paid in a timely manner
- Support with the maintenance of clear financial records through reconciliations, ensuring we are always audit-ready
- Assist with preparing and presenting financial documentation and reports, such as statements, balance sheets and trackers
- Support with expense monitoring, ensuring that all claims are in accordance with internal procedures
- Act as a point of contact for staff, managers, and suppliers, working proactively to resolve any financial queries
Who we’re looking for:
- You will hold an AAT Level 3 qualification and have experience in a similar financial role
- Experienced in IT, you will be able to evidence practical use of Microsoft systems (especially Microsoft Excel) as well as Xero; if you have also worked with ApprovalMax and Apron, this would be a strong advantage
- You’ll be detail-focused and ensure accuracy across all financial data
- You will be organised and proactive and be able to successfully navigate through deadlines and priorities
- A strong communicator and team player
- It would be advantageous if you have experience working with grants or local authority funding.
