Get Golfing CIO, a charity that supports struggling English golf facilities and aims to prevent course and club closures, is seeking an Apprentice Greenkeeper to join their dedicated team. As an Apprentice Greenkeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring that the golf courses are maintained to the highest standards. You will learn how to use specialist equipment, maintain turf, cut and roll greens, cut tees and fairways, as well as maintain bunkers and the surrounding natural environment. Get Golfing CIO is committed to ongoing professional development and career advancement for their staff, and apprenticeships are a vital component of that philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • To work with the Greenkeeping team to maintain golf courses to the highest standards.
  • Learn how to use specialist equipment and provide basic maintenance where necessary.
  • Help in setting up the golf course for the day’s play, e.g. moving tee markers and maintaining hazards.
  • Complete training assignments in a timely and efficient manner consistent with expectations and guidelines.
  • Assist in the efficient and effective maintenance of the machinery and equipment of the Greenkeeping operation.
  • Observe and understand the requirements of a golf course in relation to agronomic practices, ecology, and environment.
  • Engage with the Greenkeeping Team in appropriate dialogue over work schedules to ensure all work is carried out to the highest standard.

Qualifications

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, early morning shifts, and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of machinery operations and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work closely with others.
  • Passionate about golf and the broader sports industry.
  • Ability to work well in a team and demonstrate initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
