The Arkley 9 is one of London's most distinctive golf venues: a top-quality 9-hole course with a turnover of c.£1.2m, positioned just off the A1 and known for its inclusive atmosphere, strong local events market, and growing appeal to casual golfers and societies. With significant investment in a new Spike Bar, The Arkley 9 is evolving into a vibrant community and hospitality hub that can seamlessly host members, guests, societies, and private events at the same time.

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager; someone commercially astute, operationally sharp, and an outstanding people leader, to take The Arkley 9 into its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Leadership
    • Drive revenue growth across green fees, memberships, hospitality, and events by leveraging The Arkley 9's location, facilities, and market potential.
    • Identify and execute new business opportunities, particularly in the expanding functions and celebrations market (including Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, charity events, and local community occasions).
    • Deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial control to ensure strong, sustainable performance.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Oversee daily operations across the course, Spike Bar, clubhouse, and events spaces, ensuring consistently high standards.
    • Work with the Course Manager to maintain exceptional playing conditions aligned with The Arkley 9's reputation.
    • Ensure all health, safety, and compliance obligations are met without compromise.
  • People & Culture
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team who deliver warm, professional service.
    • Create a positive, respectful working environment where staff feel supported, valued, and aligned to Get Golfing's culture of proactive hospitality: "The answer is yes, now what is the question?".
  • Customer & Community Engagement
    • Build strong relationships with members, societies, local partners, and event clients.
    • Position The Arkley 9 as the venue of choice for short-format golf, relaxed society days, and high-quality celebrations.
    • Ensure every visitor experiences excellent service, whether playing 9 holes or attending a major event.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven leadership experience within golf, hospitality, leisure, or a comparable customer-focused environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a track record of growing revenue and optimising operations.
  • Excellent people leadership, with the ability to build cohesive teams and maintain a positive workplace culture.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, able to inspire staff and build long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Confidence in making decisions independently and managing a varied workload.
