Get Golfing is seeking an experienced People Operations Lead to provide maternity cover for the Head of People during an exciting period of organisational growth.

The role will lead the operational delivery of the People function, ensuring effective employee relations support, legal compliance, recruitment, payroll oversight and People service delivery across the organisation.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer and working closely with the People Development Lead, the People Operations Lead will ensure that People processes are effective, compliant and scalable whilst supporting managers to build high-performing teams.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines operational excellence with practical problem solving and strong stakeholder management.

The successful candidate will act as the organisation's lead for People Operations and employee relations, ensuring risk is effectively managed and managers are well supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations & Manager Support
  • Lead and manage employee relations activity across the organisation.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance, conduct and capability matters.
  • Support and coach managers in the effective management of people issues.
  • Ensure employee relations matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation and organisational values.
  • Identify trends and risks arising from employee relations activity and implement proactive solutions.
  • Support organisational change processes, consultations and restructures where required.
  • People Operations & Service Delivery
  • Oversee the day-to-day delivery of the People function across all venues.
  • Ensure recruitment, onboarding administration and People processes are delivered effectively and consistently.
  • Manage and continuously improve People systems, processes and controls.
  • Ensure employment records and documentation are maintained accurately and compliantly.
  • Work closely with managers and operational leaders to ensure People services support business needs.
  • Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement across People Operations.
  • Compliance & Employment Law
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation and internal People policies.
  • Maintain oversight of Right to Work checks, DBS processes and employee documentation.
  • Support the review and implementation of People policies and procedures.
  • Manage employment law risk and seek external legal support where required.
  • Ensure People processes remain compliant, consistent and audit-ready.
  • Support responses to employment-related investigations, claims and disputes.
  • Recruitment & Workforce Support
  • Oversee recruitment activity across the organisation.
  • Support managers in attracting and selecting high-quality candidates.
  • Monitor recruitment performance, vacancy levels and workforce requirements.
  • Ensure recruitment and onboarding processes provide a positive candidate and employee experience.
  • Work with operational leaders to support workforce planning activity.
  • Payroll & HR Systems Oversight
  • Provide oversight and quality assurance for payroll processes.
  • Work closely with the Payroll Officer to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Support reporting requirements relating to payroll, headcount and People metrics.
  • Ensure HR systems and employee data are accurate, secure and effectively maintained.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting and People data quality.
  • Leadership & Collaboration
  • Act as a trusted People partner to managers and leaders across the organisation.
  • Work collaboratively with the People Development Lead to ensure operational and development priorities are aligned.
  • Provide regular updates and insight to the Chief People Officer on People risks, challenges and opportunities.
  • Champion Get Golfing's values and desired leadership behaviours.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience within a senior HR Generalist, HR Business Partner or People Operations role.
  • Strong employee relations experience, including management of complex cases.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing People Operations within a multi-site environment.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and consultation activity.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to balance operational delivery with strategic thinking.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Experience coaching managers and supporting leadership teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Desirable

  • CIPD Level 5 or above (or equivalent).
  • Experience within hospitality, leisure, retail or charity sectors.
  • Experience implementing/managing People systems or process improvements.
  • Experience managing payroll providers and payroll governance.
  • Experience working within a values-led organisation.
