Role Purpose

The Events Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth at Sherfield Oaks Golf Club through proactive sales activity, strategic business development, and exceptional client relationship management. This role will focus on increasing revenue across corporate events, golf days, meetings, conferences, seasonal functions, and memberships through a combination of outbound sales activity and the management of high-value inbound enquiries. The successful candidate will act as a commercial ambassador for the venue, building long-term relationships with corporate clients, event organisers, local businesses, and members while delivering an outstanding customer journey from enquiry to event execution. This is a target-driven and relationship-focused role requiring strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and a passion for hospitality, events, and golf.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive Sales & Business Development
    • Develop and implement proactive outbound sales strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets across events, golf days, memberships, and hospitality offerings.
    • Generate new business through cold calling, personalised email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, networking events, and strategic prospecting.
    • Identify and secure corporate opportunities including conferences, meetings, away days, golf days, summer parties, and Christmas events.
    • Represent the club at industry networking events, trade shows, and local business forums to build awareness and generate leads.
    • Organise and conduct professional site visits and venue presentations to showcase the venue’s facilities and experiences.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to secure profitable business opportunities.
  • Venue Sales & Golf Day Sales
    • Drive growth in venue sales across corporate events, private parties, celebrations, meetings, conferences, summer events, and Christmas functions through both inbound enquiries and proactive outbound sales activity.
    • Achieve agreed quarterly and annual revenue targets for venue hire, hospitality packages, and golf day bookings.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to maximise secondary spend through catering, bar revenue, accommodation partnerships, entertainment, upgrades, and added-value event services.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event organisers, planners, golf societies, and local businesses to encourage repeat business and referrals.
    • Manage the full sales journey from initial enquiry through proposal creation, venue show rounds, negotiation, confirmation, payment collection, and final handover to operational teams.
    • Deliver engaging and personalised venue tours that showcase the venue’s facilities, atmosphere, and customer experience to maximise conversion opportunities.
    • Upsell and cross-sell venue services and event enhancements to increase average booking value and overall profitability.
    • Ensure all event details, contracts, payments, and client expectations are managed accurately and professionally to support seamless event delivery.
    • Develop tailored event packages and creative sales opportunities aligned with market trends and customer needs.
    • Work closely with operational and hospitality teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences that generate positive reviews, repeat business, and long-term client relationships.
  • Strategic Inbound Sales Management
    • Take ownership of high-value inbound enquiries and convert opportunities into confirmed business.
    • Produce tailored proposals and packages aligned with client objectives and venue capabilities.
    • Collaborate closely with operational teams to ensure seamless event planning and delivery.
    • Develop key account plans to maximise repeat business and long-term client value.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event organisers, members, and local businesses.
    • Deliver exceptional communication and customer service throughout every stage of the sales journey.
    • Act as a trusted point of contact for clients, ensuring a professional and positive experience at all times.
    • Ensure all events and customer experiences reflect the high standards and inclusive ethos of Get Golfing CIO.
  • Revenue & Pipeline Management
    • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales pipelines, conversion data, and revenue forecasts.
    • Monitor sales performance and provide regular reports to senior management on activity, revenue generation, market trends, and client feedback.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting processes through accurate sales reporting and pipeline management.
    • Monitor competitor activity and local market trends to identify new business opportunities.
  • Team Collaboration & Venue Standards
    • Work collaboratively with the General Manager and operational teams to maximise sales opportunities and ensure excellent event delivery.
    • Support a positive team culture through strong communication, accountability, and collaboration.
    • Uphold health & safety, licensing, and operational compliance standards across all sales activities.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in venue sales, corporate event sales, hospitality sales, or golf industry sales.
  • Proven success in proactive outbound sales, business development, and revenue generation.
  • Experience managing high-value client relationships and achieving ambitious sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of the golf, hospitality, or events industry.
